You are raising them alone. But you were never meant to disappear in the process.
Your children need you present. So does the rest of you.
For parents doing it without a partner, often in the wake of something that broke more than just the relationship.
Parenting Alone Stream
The version of this nobody talks about honestly.
You are always on
There is no one to hand over to at the end of the day. No one to take the morning shift when you have barely slept. Your nervous system has learned to stay alert, because the moment you stop, things fall apart. That is not anxiety. That is what it feels like to carry everything alone.
You have quietly disappeared
The school run, the packed lunches, the homework, the messages from the other parent, the bills, the bedtimes. Somewhere inside all of it, you stopped existing as a separate person. It happened so gradually you barely noticed until one day you tried to remember what you actually enjoy and drew a blank.
You are exhausted in a way rest does not fix
Not ordinary tired. Something deeper, a depletion that sleep barely touches. This is what happens when a nervous system has been running on adrenaline for months or years. If you left an abusive or controlling relationship, that exhaustion began long before the separation did.
You watch your children for signs of damage
You notice every change in their mood. You second-guess your parenting constantly. You wonder what they are absorbing that they are not saying. And if the other parent is actively working against your relationship with them, that worry becomes something much heavier and much harder to carry.
You feel guilty for how angry you are
The anger is completely reasonable. What was done to you, and to your family, deserves to be felt. But somewhere along the way it got buried under guilt, under the children, under the voice that tells you you should be further along by now, coping better, feeling less.
You have lost track of who you are outside this role
Your identity has narrowed to parent, to the logistics, to the person holding it all together. The version of you that had interests, desires, a sense of self beyond all of this, that person is still there. She or he just needs the right conditions to come back.
The standard advice for single parents rarely accounts for what it looks like when the other parent was the problem.
The separation did not end the relationship Still live
When children are involved, complete separation is rarely possible. The other parent remains present through messages, through the children themselves, through legal and financial processes, and through what they tell others about you. The healing work has to happen while the source of harm is still active. That is a very particular kind of difficult, and it deserves to be treated as such.
Your children are watching you heal The real work
Every choice you make, every piece of yourself you reclaim, your children are absorbing all of it. This is not a pressure to perform wellness you do not yet feel. It is a reminder that the work you do on yourself is also work you are doing for them. They do not need a perfect parent. They need one who is honest, present, and moving in the right direction.
Your nervous system never fully rests Body
Sole responsibility means the nervous system never fully discharges. There is always something to be vigilant about. Add to that the ongoing impact of a high-conflict co-parenting relationship, and the body remains in a low-level state of readiness that accumulates quietly over months and years.
Healing cannot wait until the children have grown Urgency
Many parents in this situation quietly defer their own recovery. When the children are older. When the legal situation settles. When life is less chaotic. The difficulty is that deferred healing rarely happens on schedule. The years pass, the children grow, and the wound remains, intact, waiting. PATHFINDER is designed for people who are living real, complicated lives right now.
You are doing this without a witness Isolation
One of the quietly devastating things about parenting alone is that nobody sees most of it. The effort, the patience, the days when you held it together by a thread, the moments of genuine connection you managed despite everything. That invisibility accumulates. Being truly seen, even by a community of people who understand, changes something real.
Your healing is your children's inheritance Legacy
The patterns you carry, the ones shaped by what you lived through, will eventually show up in your children's lives too, unless they are understood and interrupted. The work you do now is not just for you. It is the most protective thing you can offer the people you love most.
From surviving the days to building a life that is genuinely yours.
The Parenting Alone stream maps the full journey, from the exhaustion and confusion of early survival, through the slow work of rebuilding, to the life and the version of yourself that is waiting on the other side of this.
Phase One · The Body
Understanding what happened, why your nervous system is responding the way it is, and what the other parent's behaviour actually is and was. Making sense of the confusion. Stabilising the body. Beginning to breathe again.
Phase Two · The Mind
Rebuilding your sense of who you are outside of this role and this story. Developing clarity about the co-parenting dynamic. Learning to hold your ground without losing yourself in the process. Reclaiming your energy and your identity.
Phase Three · The Soul
The life built with intention rather than assembled from what is left over. A version of yourself your children will one day look back on and understand. Purpose, peace, and the quiet confidence of someone who walked through the hardest thing and found themselves on the other side.
Every piece of the picture, not just the parts that are comfortable to address.
At each level of PATHFINDER, this stream looks at how the emotional terrain of that stage shows up through the specific lens of parenting alone. It draws on trauma-informed understanding, nervous system science, the psychology of coercive control, and the real, practical realities of managing a household, a family, and a healing process at the same time.
There is no breezy reassurance here. This content is honest about how hard the situation is, and equally honest about what becomes possible when you begin to understand it properly.
Understanding what you have been through
A thorough, honest exploration of the dynamics that led you here. Coercive control, emotional manipulation, the specific patterns that made it so confusing to leave and so difficult to move on from. Before anything changes, it has to make sense. Every piece of the puzzle that gets coloured in reduces the fog that has been making everything harder.
Resetting a nervous system that never rests
Practical, evidence-informed work on the body's relationship with chronic stress. Sleep, nutrition, movement, breathwork, and the small daily choices that, made consistently, begin to shift something real. Not a wellness programme. The physiological foundation that makes everything else possible.
Navigating the co-parenting relationship
Specific, grounded tools for managing ongoing contact with a difficult, coercive, or high-conflict other parent. Communication strategies that reduce escalation, documentation approaches, and the internal regulation work that allows you to respond from clarity rather than from the emotional state they are trying to trigger.
Protecting your children without losing yourself
Understanding what children actually need from a parent who is healing, as distinct from a parent who has everything figured out. The difference between shielding them appropriately and carrying their entire emotional world alone. How your own recovery becomes the most protective thing you can offer them.
You do not have to have it resolved to begin understanding what is happening.
A significant proportion of the people who join PATHFINDER are not looking back at a situation that is over. They are in the middle of one. Still in contact with the other parent through the children. Still in legal processes. Still having their reality questioned by people who only know one version of the story.
Much of this stream is designed specifically for that situation. Safety, clarity, strategic self-protection, managing communication with someone who is still trying to destabilise you, and maintaining your own psychological grounding while the situation remains live. All of it is addressed directly, practically, and without judgement.
The founder of PATHFINDER.
Stewart Cook is a former British Army officer, a life coach, and the founder of PATHFINDER. He built this programme after his own marriage ended in circumstances that took him years to fully understand. What followed included a deliberate smear campaign, parental alienation, battles through the family courts, and a period in 2016 where he came very close to not surviving it.
He knows what it is to watch someone use your children as part of an ongoing campaign against you. He knows the particular quality of grief that comes from being present for your children whilst fighting for the right to remain in their lives. He knows what it is, on the other side of all of that, to rebuild something solid from what felt like wreckage.
PATHFINDER exists because Stewart needed it and it did not exist. He built it so that you do not have to find your way through the same territory without a map.

If what happened in the relationship left wounds that go deeper than the separation itself can explain, the Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse stream will help you understand the full picture, including the patterns that held you there and the ones that continue to play out through the co-parenting relationship.
If the other parent has been working to damage or sever your relationship with your children, the Parental Alienation stream addresses that specific and devastating experience directly, including the legal landscape, the psychological impact, and the practical strategies available to you.
And if the legal process is still live, the High Conflict Divorce stream runs alongside this one, covering the court process, managing an adversarial ex-partner, and protecting your children while proceedings continue.
