What happened to you has a name.
And there is a map out of it.
For anyone who has been abused, manipulated or controlled by someone they trusted, and who is still trying to make sense of what that did to them.
Survivors of Abuse Stream
Some of this might sound very familiar.
You keep questioning yourself
You replay conversations, searching for what you missed. You wonder whether it really was as bad as you remember, or whether you are somehow to blame for it. The doubt feels relentless.
You don't feel like yourself any more
Somewhere in the middle of it, you lost track of who you actually are. The person you used to be feels distant. You're not sure when that happened, or whether you can find your way back.
You're exhausted in a way sleep doesn't fix
It is not just tiredness. It is a bone-deep depletion that comes from years of hypervigilance, of walking on eggshells, of managing someone else's volatility and trying to hold yourself together at the same time.
Other people don't quite understand
You've tried to explain it. Most people listen, nod, and then say something that makes it clear they don't really get it. The isolation that comes from that is its own kind of wound.
You still feel connected to them
Even now. Even knowing what you know. There is something that pulls you back, a bond that doesn't make logical sense but refuses to loosen its grip. That is not weakness. It has a name too.
You're frightened to trust again
The person you trusted most was the one who hurt you. So now everyone goes through a kind of invisible audit before you'll let them anywhere near you. That is not paranoia. That is a nervous system doing exactly what it was trained to do.
Normal people don't abuse. Understanding who does is where the confusion ends.
The two faces Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde
The person who hurt you showed you one face at the beginning, warm, charming, attentive, and a very different one once the relationship was established. That is not a coincidence. It is a pattern that Pathfinder decodes in detail.
Cluster B personality disorders The clinical picture
Narcissistic, psychopathic, sociopathic and borderline personality disorders share a common thread: a fundamental inability to relate to others in the way that emotionally healthy people do. Understanding the psychology behind this is not about blame. It is about clarity.
You applied normal logic And it didn't work
You tried to reason with them. You tried to explain your feelings. You tried to find the common ground that you would have found with anyone else. But Cluster B personalities do not operate by the same emotional rules. Applying normal logic to an abnormal situation only deepens the confusion.
The trauma bond Why you couldn't just leave
Intermittent reinforcement, cycles of idealization and withdrawal, manufactured dependency. What kept you in the relationship was not weakness. It was a well-understood psychological mechanism that affects highly intelligent, emotionally capable people. Pathfinder explains precisely how it works.
Your nervous system took the hit The body kept the score
Prolonged exposure to unpredictability, control and emotional cruelty dysregulates the nervous system in measurable, documented ways. Anxiety, hypervigilance, chronic fatigue, difficulty trusting your own perceptions. These are not personality flaws. They are physiological responses to sustained psychological harm.
There is a way out This can change
People who have been through experiences far darker than you might believe possible have found their way back to themselves. Not by forgetting what happened, but by understanding it so completely that it loses its grip. That is what Pathfinder is designed to do.
From confusion to clarity. From clarity to freedom.
The Pathfinder Survivors stream maps the full journey from making sense of what happened, through resolving the trauma it left behind, to rebuilding a life that belongs entirely to you.
Phase One · The Body
Decoding the abuse. Understanding who you were dealing with, why they did what they did, and why you responded the way you did. Validating what happened. Resetting a nervous system that has been operating in survival mode for far too long.
Phase Two · The Mind
The rebuild. Reclaiming your identity, your confidence, your sense of what you are worth. Learning to trust your own perceptions again. Developing the psychological self-protection tools that mean this can never happen to you in the same way again.
Phase Three · The Soul
Understanding why this happened to you, and what it has made you. Finding meaning. Discovering that the person who survived this is someone with a depth, a resilience and a capacity for genuine connection that they could not have accessed any other way.
Every piece of the puzzle, coloured in.
At each level of Pathfinder, this stream looks at how the emotional territory of that stage shows up through the lens of abuse and recovery. It draws on the most credible and practically useful research available, from trauma-informed psychology and attachment theory to the clinical literature on narcissistic and coercive personality disorders, alongside the broader Pathfinder framework that connects mind, body and spirit.
There is no breezy reassurance here. This content is honest about how hard it is to recover from what you have been through, and equally honest about what becomes possible when you understand it completely.
Decoding the Abuser
The psychology of narcissistic, psychopathic and sociopathic personality types. Why they do what they do, what they are actually seeking, and why normal emotional reasoning does not apply to them. This is where the confusion starts to lift.
Understanding Your Response
The trauma bond, the self-doubt, the difficulty leaving, the pull back towards someone you know hurt you. These are not weaknesses. They are well-understood psychological and physiological responses. Understanding them is what dissolves them.
Resetting the Nervous System
Prolonged abuse leaves a measurable mark on the body. Pathfinder addresses the physiological dimension of recovery directly, through breathwork, somatic practice, nervous system regulation and the practical tools of Pillar One, which runs throughout the entire programme.
Psychological Self-Protection
Practical strategies for anyone who is still in contact with a difficult or high-conflict individual, whether through co-parenting, ongoing legal proceedings, or circumstances they cannot yet change. Learning to protect yourself without becoming what you are protecting yourself from.
The founder of PATHFINDER.
I'm a former British Army officer, a life coach, and the founder of PATHFINDER. I built this programme after my own marriage collapsed in 2015 following an affair and what became a sustained campaign of manipulation, smear and psychological harm. Four psychologists failed to understand what had happened to me. A community of other survivors on Quora and Facebook became the beginning of my education.
In 2016, I came very close to not surviving at all. What pulled me through was the thing I had always done when faced with something I could not understand: I researched it obsessively, built a framework for it, and mapped a route out. That map became PATHFINDER.
I have walked every step of this path before you. I know what it is to lose your bearings completely, to doubt everything you thought you knew, and to find your way back. The course I built is the one I needed and could not find.

If the abuse happened within a marriage that ended badly, the High Conflict Divorce stream runs alongside this one and addresses the legal, emotional and practical terrain of that experience directly, including co-parenting with a difficult ex-partner and navigating the family courts.
If you have children who have been turned against you, the Parental Alienation stream addresses one of the most painful experiences a parent can face, with the same level of honesty and practical support that runs through everything Pathfinder does.
And if prolonged stress and trauma have started to affect your physical health, the Chronic Health Conditions stream shows the connection between unresolved trauma and physical symptoms, and what you can do about it.
